QLD pair charged after police pursuit and stolen goods found in Goulburn

Two people have been charged after officers allegedly located stolen property following a police pursuit in Goulburn overnight, NSW Police say.

About 11.50pm (Friday 23 November 2018), officers attached to The Hume Police District observed a Mitsubishi Lancer station wagon, reported as stolen from a rental company earlier this month, travelling on Sydney Road, Goulburn.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and a pursuit was initiated when the driver allegedly accelerated away.

A short time later, the pursuit was terminated as the vehicle entered Goulburn CBD.

About 1am (Saturday 24 November 2018), officers observed a man and woman walking on Old Sydney Road and the pair were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

The vehicle was located in a laneway between Marsden and Cole Streets, Goulburn, and during a search, officers allegedly located a tent – which was reported as stolen from Nowra.

Police will allege the vehicle was also used in two fail to pay for fuel offences in Byron Bay and Kew during November.

The vehicle was taken for forensic examination.

The 31-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop (Skye’s Law) (x2), receive property stolen outside of NSW (vehicle), Larceny and obtain benefit by deception (x2).

The 24-year-old woman was charged with receive property outside of NSW (vehicle) and obtain benefit by deception (x2).

The duo, from Queensland, were both refused bail to appear at Goulburn Bail Court today (Saturday 24 November 2018).
