Quad bike rider charged with high-range PCA in Sutherland

A man has been charged with high-range PCA after he was stopped riding a quad bike allegedly without a helmet in Sutherland this morning, NSW Police say.

About 9.30am today, officers from Sutherland Local Area Command stopped a man riding a quad bike with a pillion passenger along Jannali Avenue. It’s alleged both men were not wearing helmets.

The men were stopped and spoken to by police, before the rider, a 25-year-old man, was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

The rider was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station where he underwent a breath test analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.177.

He was issued a court attendance notice for drive with high-range PCA, use unregistered vehicle, use uninsured vehicle, use vehicle on a road with tax not paid, and rider without helmet ride with passenger without helmet.

The man’s driver’s licence was suspended on the spot and he will appear at Sutherland Local Court on 19 January 2017.
