The Crisafulli Government has opened applications for a $1 million funding pool to support events which bring multicultural communities together and celebrate cultural diversity across the State.

With more than one in five Queenslanders born overseas, the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program reflects the Crisafulli Government's commitment to building a society where people of all backgrounds feel welcome and valued.

The program, which opens ahead of Queensland Multicultural Month in August, has been split across two funding rounds - each offering $500,000.

Organisations can apply for one-off funding of up to $20,000 to support multicultural events, including intercultural sporting events and multicultural festivals.

The Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program funded 119 events this year – from the Gold Coast up to Cairns.

The first round opens on Monday, 21 July 2025 and closes at midnight on Sunday, 17 August 2025, for events taking place between 1 January and 30 June 2026.

The second round opens on 1 November 2025 for events between 1 July and 31 December 2026, ensuring year-round support for cultural events across Queensland.

Minister for Multiculturalism Fiona Simpson encouraged eligible community organisations to join forces with the Crisafulli Government during Multicultural Month to strengthen Queensland's diverse social cohesion.

"These events, particularly those held during Multicultural Month in August, are more than just celebrations - they are opportunities to bring together people from different backgrounds to educate and foster pride in our shared identity," Minister Simpson said.

"We want Queensland to be the most welcoming and inclusive state in Australia - a place where every community is proud to call home.

"We know Labor viewed multicultural groups purely as a box-ticking exercise, with outdated policies that didn't address the concerns of community leaders – as highlighted in the Sustainability of Multicultural Organisations in Queensland report.

"The Crisafulli Government recognises how much our multicultural communities contribute to our state, both economically and culturally, and we remain focused on supporting diverse cultures with programs such as this one."
