The Crisafulli Government has today announced the 2026 Farm Safety calendar competition winners with a record-breaking 2,514 entries received from more than 140 primary schools in Queensland.

The annual competition was open to all Queensland primary school children from Prep to Year 6 to deliver awareness around potential safety hazards on farms and rural settings.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Industrial Relations Jarrod Bleijie announced the 12 winners at the Sunshine Coast's Palmwoods State School on Friday as part of Safe Work Month.

Deputy Premier Bleijie said the record number of entries highlighted how important the competition was to Queensland families and throughout local communities.

"The Crisafulli Government is proud to support young Queenslanders who are helping to build safer and strong communities and this is a great example of how Queenslanders look out for one another," he said.

"This competition is about creative young minds promoting the importance of farm safety and getting such a response with a record-breaking number of entries is very encouraging.

"By encouraging our next generation to think about risks and safe behaviours early, we're building a strong culture of care and awareness across rural and regional Queensland."

Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said he was especially proud to see the highest number of entries – 162 – to the competition come from Palmwoods State School, right in the heart of the Nicklin electorate.

"It's fantastic to see our local students leading the way in promoting safe practices on farms and in rural areas, helping to protect families, friends and workers in local communities," Mr Hunt said.

"Palmwoods State School should be incredibly proud of the way their students have embraced this competition, which is a reflection of the wonderful teaching and community spirit we see in our local schools right across the Sunshine Coast hinterland."

Palmwoods State School Principal Rick Cass said the school encouraged students to participate in the competition and the enthusiasm and collaboration with staff was reflected by the outstanding number of entries.

"The themes for this year's Farm Safety Calendar competition are very relevant to the everyday lives of our students and their families, so it was a real passion project for students and staff alike," Mr Cass said.

"The students approached the competition with great energy and creativity. They enjoyed themselves immensely, expressed themselves artistically and learned some valuable lessons about the important topic of farm safety.''

Palmwoods State School student Mali Kelly is one of the 12 winning entrants with her artwork featuring the Health and Wellbeing theme of, Make sure you're ready to help out on the farm by eating healthy meals and getting plenty of sleep.

"Safety is very important, especially on farms. It was a lot of fun doing the drawing for the competition because a lot of the kids at my school also entered and I was so happy when I found out that I was one of the winners,'' Mali said.

Around 40,000 copies of the 2026 calendar will be printed for statewide distribution.

Each month highlights a different safety theme, with 12 winning entries selected from Prep to Year 6 students across the Sunshine Coast, Darling Downs, Hervey Bay, Southwest Queensland, and North and Central Queensland regions.

The 12 winning entrants receive a $250 gift card and $500 for their school.

The calendars are available for pre-order from the WorkSafe website , along with further information about past and present winners.
