The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for Regional Jobs Committees, who met in Brisbane this week to mark the start of a revitalised program.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, after delivering record funding for Regional Jobs Committees in the 2025-26 Budget.
From 2025-27, 12 appointed organisations, including two new and 10 continuing, will lead Regional Jobs Committees and will;
Identify local workforce challenges and connect stakeholders with government programs, resources and events.
Address barriers to training, workforce participation and business growth.
Develop strategies to resolve skills gaps and workforce issues.
Support regional job growth and plan for future employment needs.
Foster collaboration among local businesses, industry leaders, government, training providers and schools to strengthen training pathways, align local skills with economic activity and create better employment outcomes across Queensland.
Regional Jobs Committees will also have a better ability to plan and deliver long term solutions, after the Crisafulli Government increased the term of each committee from one year to two years.
Unlike Labor's decade-long box ticking approach, the Crisafulli Government is focused on real solutions to local workforce shortages.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the appointments would ensure the Regional Jobs Committee program evolves to meet the community needs.
"After a decade of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is delivering certainty to Regional Jobs Committees, who will get on with delivering genuine outcomes by getting people into jobs and training, measured at the workplace level," Minister Bates said.
"The Regional Jobs Committee program will draw on local expertise, to address local needs, and create the jobs which will underpin a better lifestyle for Queenslanders through a stronger economy.
"This is all part of our plan to deliver a Fresh Start for Queensland, fix Labor's skills shortage and secure the pipeline of skilled workers to build the roads, hospitals, and infrastructure for Queensland's future."
