The Crisafulli Government has opened the first round of applications for the $540,000 Empowering Queensland Women Grants to enhance women's economic security.
The Empowering Queensland Women (EQW) program has been split into two rounds, with eligible organisations able apply for a share of $270,000 funding in round one, with grants of up to $10,000 available per applicant.
The funding supports community groups and organisations delivering initiatives to foster long-term benefits for women and girls across the State.
The grants support projects directly linked to financial literacy, events, training programs, networking, and leadership opportunities for women.
To be eligible for these grants, applicants must be an incorporated non-for-profit organisation, an incorporated association, an Indigenous corporation, a Queensland university, or a Queensland local government authority.
The Crisafulli Government has delivered our Women's Economic Security and Wellbeing Report; kickstarted consultation with leading Queensland women for the State's first Women's Economic Security Strategy; and continued to drive our $20 million program to support and strengthen careers for women re-entering the workforce.
In stark contrast, the former Labor Government claimed to champion Queensland women – but actions spoke louder than words through Labor's forced closure of maternity wards.
Minister for Women and Queensland's first-ever Minister for Women's Economic Security, Fiona Simpson, said the EQW program was an important step in creating opportunities for women to address the barriers to full economic participation.
"The Empowering Queensland Women Grants Program focuses on empowering women and girls across Queensland to achieve their full potential by supporting organisations making a real difference in the community," Minister Simpson said.
"Women in Queensland face unique challenges, particularly in rural and remote areas, and this funding is an opportunity to support crucial initiatives which can help to address these challenges and provide lasting benefits for women and their families.
"The former Labor State Government covered up harassment and bullying of women in Queensland workplaces – we have marked a significant milestone this week with the start of the public hearings for the Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU.
"The Crisafulli Government is delivering equality and security for women across Queensland back on track after Labor's decade of decline, with better economic outcomes and real financial security for women and girls."
National Council of Women of Queensland President Sandy Smith said the Empowering Queensland Women Grants were important for advancing opportunities for women and girls across the State.
"By supporting projects that improve financial literacy, leadership skills and economic security, this program helps to address the systemic barriers that many women and girls face," Ms Smith said.
"Empowering women strengthens families, builds resilient communities, and drives positive change for all Queenslanders. We strongly encourage organisations to apply and make a lasting impact."
Applications will be assessed based on their potential impact, alignment with the program's goals, and the organisation's ability to deliver the project.
Successful applicants will also need to meet funding conditions, including holding public liability insurance.
Round One applications close on 30 October 2025.
