The Crisafulli Government is boosting services and support for Queensland social enterprises, after delivering $1.6 million over four years in the 2025-26 State Budget.
The funding provided by the Office of Social Impact's Social Entrepreneurs Fund to Queensland Social Enterprise Council (QSEC) will provide certainty for the sector and ensure continuous peak body representation across the State.
Social enterprises are businesses delivering a purpose beyond profit, aiming to create real community benefits, including more job opportunities, better services and healthier lives.
QSEC has worked closely with the Government's Office of Social Impact on development of a roadmap to support social enterprises and impact investment in Queensland.
Treasurer David Janetzki said the Crisafulli Government was proud to support QSEC in its efforts to strengthen the sector.
"We promised to be a Government that values the impact of social enterprises and the for-purpose sector and this funding demonstrates that commitment over the full forward estimates," Mr Janetzki said.
"Right now, there are more than 2,000 social enterprises in Queensland and we want to nurture even more.
"With this additional support, QSEC will be able to ensure our new and existing social enterprises have the resources and representation they need to thrive.
"We look forward to seeing QSEC continue its vital role as a peak body, amplifying the voices of purpose-driven organisations and driving positive change for Queenslanders who need it most."
QSEC CEO Adele Laughton said the commitment from the Crisafulli Government was a game-changer for Queensland's social enterprises, providing stability and momentum for the sector.
"It gives QSEC the certainty to deliver for all regions, ensuring every social enterprise has strong representation and practical support to grown tackle complex challenges, and drive sustainable economic and social outcomes across Queensland," Ms Laughton said.
"It also enables the ongoing collaboration between QSEC and the Office of Social Impact, which later this year will transform months of co-consultations into action through the delivery of Queensland's first Social Enterprise Roadmap."
