The Palaszczuk Government is offering $100,000 in sponsorship through a partnership program to help spread the 'Bounce Back Better' message during Queensland Small Business Month 2021, being held in May.
Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer said Queensland's economic recovery is underway and Queensland is leading the way when it comes to job creation.
"We can deliver Queensland's plan for economic recovery because the Palaszczuk Government is united and this month-long celebration will focus on ways to assist the small business sector's economic recovery creating jobs across the state," Minister Farmer said.
"Our Small Business Roadshows, which wrapped up earlier this month, provided direct feedback from the attendees who were eager to tell us what they need to create jobs and keep our communities strong.
"Following on from their recommendations of more government support, our new Partnership Program will sponsor initiatives or events that connect small businesses with information to help them recover even stronger following the challenges of the past 18 months.
"The sponsorships of up to $10,000 each will be funded through our Big Plans for Small Business package, which focuses on connecting small businesses with the support they need.
Events such as industry open days, sustainability summits, disaster recovery, skills workshops, circular economy and eat local events are being implemented and encouraged.
Minister Farmer said Queensland small businesses have faced a number of significant challenges in addition to COVID-19, including floods, droughts, bushfires and this week, even more flooding.
"During May, we will highlight how small business owners adapt to changing circumstances and how so many manage to grow very successful enterprises in our cities and regional areas," Ms Farmer said.
"Last year, the state's first Small Business Month was a virtual campaign due to COVID-19.
"Previously in 2019, it was only a week of activity consisting of 270 events which connected with more than 10,000 people."
Queensland businesses, local councils and chambers, peak industry associations and other groups working with small businesses have until 5pm Friday, 9 April 2021 to submit a partnership application.
Queensland Small Business Month 2021 is an important part of the Queensland Government's commitment to deliver networking, awareness, promotion and collaboration opportunities that enable small business to build strategic partnerships and connect with government, industry and each other.
