Railway track signal detonators stolen in Orange

Investigations are underway after several railway track signal detonators were stolen in Orange yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm yesterday, three railway track signals detonators were laid out during track work in the railway corridor near Byng and Summer Streets.

A short time later, workers at the site noticed the devices missing.

Police were contacted and officers from Canobolas Local Area Command and the Police Transport Command attended and commenced inquiries.

Officers would like to speak to two men seen nearby, who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The first man is described as being about 18-years-old, with long black-coloured scruffy hair and was wearing a light-coloured jumper.

The second man was not described.

The devices pose a safety risk if used incorrectly. The warning devices are placed on railway lines to alert track workers of approaching trains.

Police are advising members of the public if they locate these devices not to tamper with them or if you are offered them for sale to contact police immediately.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
