Georges River Council has cut its average Development Application (DA) approval times by 35.2%. It has also eliminated its aged application backlog.
Council's average determination time improved from 227 days in 2024-2025 to 147 in 2025-2026. This makes Georges River one of the most improved councils in Greater Sydney.
Council has invested heavily in building a fully staffed, high-performing team, with collaboration, accountability, and timeliness key to having a sustainable service that meets community expectations. This year's result has also included a renewed focus on resolving older DAs and improving internal processes.
Further improvements are anticipated in the coming year with quarterly reporting to Council continuing.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "These results reflect Council's commitment to improvement.
"Reducing the average determination times by over one-third in 12 months is a significant achievement. Most importantly, these results were achieved alongside clearing some of our older and more complex DAs.
"Council is focused on maintaining this momentum. We aim to continue delivering positive results for the community, while ensuring DAs are assessed efficiently and meeting planning and assessment standards."
