Re-appeal to locate missing man at Wollongong

Police are continuing to appeal for information from the public to locate a man missing from the Illawarra earlier this month.

Durward Backhouse-Smith, aged 32, was last seen about 6.35pm on Friday 3 September 2021, leaving a premise in Smith Street at Wollongong.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District were notified about 6.40pm on Monday 6 September 2021 and commenced an investigation into his whereabouts.

Police and family hold concerns for Durward's welfare as he has not made contact with friends or family since.

Durward is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, about 190cm tall, of a solid build, with shoulder length black hair and dreadlocks.

He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hooded jacket, a black face mask, dark coloured pants with a high visibility stripe at the bottom. Durward was carrying a black backpack at the time.

Durward is known to frequent the Westmead and Lalor Park areas.
