On Thursday, September 23rd, the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs convened a roundtable for Latino elected leaders across the nation, hosted by the Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Julie Rodriguez, to discuss how President Biden's Build Back Better agenda will provide historic investments in America's middle-and-working class families, including Latino families. The roundtable featured Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis, Passaic Mayor Hector Lora, and Assemblyman Edgar Flores from Nevada. During the meeting, the featured Latino local elected leaders shared how the Build Back Better agenda would help their communities combat COVID-19, create jobs, tackle the climate crisis, and support working families.
The meeting was part of a series of activities the White House has hosted for Hispanic Heritage Month, including a virtual discussion with all four Latino Cabinet Members to kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month, a meeting with Latino leaders from across the country to listen to their priorities and to discuss how the Build Back Better agenda and pathway to citizenship would benefit Latino families, and a meeting yesterday with Latino farmworkers and Secretary Vilsack.
