Reappointment of Audit and Risk Committee member

Head office

Following an expression of interest and selection process, Ms Linda MacRae has been reappointed as an independent member to Campaspe Shire Council's Audit and Risk Committee for a further four-year term.

The appointment recognises Ms MacRae's extensive skills and experience, and the positive contribution she has already made as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee since September 2018.

Ms MacRae's current tenure was due to expire on 31 December, along with another member. However, with the resignation of long-serving member Mike Bennett effective on 30 June, Council conducted an expression of interest process for all current and impending vacancies. A nomination was received by Ms MacRae.

Under the Local Government Act 2020, all Victorian councils are required to have an Audit and Risk Committee. Their role is to provide advice and oversight of council's discharge of its responsibilities in relation to financial and performance management, and its internal control environment.

Campaspe Mayor Cr Chrissy Weller said Council is privileged to have someone of Ms MacRae's calibre on Campaspe's committee.

"The Audit and Risk Committee is responsible for the oversight of sound corporate governance, financial performance and risk management for Campaspe Shire Council. Linda MacRae's wealth of knowledge and experience in these areas make her an outstanding member of the committee for this purpose," Cr Weller said.

"Linda has also fulfilled the role of committee chair on two occasions, which is testament to her commitment and dedication to the important role of the committee and its members.

"On behalf of Council, I also wish to acknowledge and thank Mr Mike Bennett on his seven years of dedicated service to the committee. In this time, Mike provided sound advice and made a wonderful contribution, and we wish him and his family all the very best for the future."

A further expression of interest process will be conducted from mid-September to fill two vacancies on the Audit and Risk Committee.
