Rebels OMCG associate charged and firearms seized, NSW

An associate of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang and his girlfriend have been charged with firearms offences in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Police from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor have been conducting ongoing inquiries into illegal firearm and weapon possession.

As a result of their inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home on Discovery Avenue, Willmot about 11.30am yesterday.

During the search, police located and seized clothing, jewellery, and a motorcycle helmet.

At the same time, investigators arrested a 39-year-old man at a home on Gore Place, Willmot. He was also served a Firearms Prohibition Order and a Weapons Prohibition Order.

During a subsequent search of the home, officers located and seized .177 calibre rifle, an expandable baton, and ammunition.

A 28-year-old female resident was also arrested at the location, and the pair was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.

The man was charged with possess shortened firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, possess barrel for firearm unless authorised, possess prohibited weapon, not keep firearm safely and possess ammunition.

He has been refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today.

The woman was charged with possess unauthorised firearm and not keep firearm safely.

She was granted bail and is due to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court tomorrow.

Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
