Record Forecast Of Almost $100 Billion For Agriculture

The Hon Julie Collins MP
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

The Albanese Labor Government continues to back Australia's proud farmers and producers, with new figures released today showing our agriculture industry is on track to reach a record value of almost $100 billion this financial year.

The latest ABARES Agricultural Commodities Report forecasts the gross value of agricultural production will rise to $99.5 billion in 2025-26, and over $106.4 billion when the value of fisheries and forestry are included.

This is the result of ongoing demand for our world-class agriculture, fisheries and forestry products - with exports forecast to reach a record value of $83.9 billion in 2025-26.

This milestone is a credit to the hard work, resilience and skill of farmers, backed by strong collaboration with the Albanese Labor Government.

The Government has proudly partnered with industry to create new economic opportunities for farmers by expanding export markets, removing red tape to boost productivity, strengthening biosecurity, and providing support for farmers facing hardship.

The return of major trade opportunities, including $20 billion worth of resumed trade with China that had been neglected by the Coalition, has strengthened international demand for Australian products.

Under our Government, market access for our farmers and producers is the most diversified it has ever been, providing our farmers with the best platform for continued growth.

The hard-won competitiveness of our industry on the world stage, combined with a $2 billion investment in biosecurity, is helping safeguard and grow the industry's future.

The Albanese Labor Government understands some Australian farmers are still facing challenges, which is why we announced an additional $1 billion in new concessional loan funding through Regional Investment Corporation.
