Record number of Tasmanians in work

The Australian Bureau of Statistics labour force figures for August 2018 confirm a record number of Tasmanians are in work with total employment over a quarter of a million for the first time.

Since the Government was elected in March 2014 an additional 15,300 Tasmanians are now in work, with the total number of Tasmanians employed now 250,300, in trend terms.

These record figures do not happen by accident, they are the result of the Hodgman Liberal Government’s strong economic management and our long term Plan to make your life better.

Importantly, 2,100 Tasmanians found full-time work over the past year, representing around three quarters of the total jobs created, illustrating the strength and confidence that we are now seeing in the Tasmanian economy.

The Government is focused on delivering our commitments, including a record $2.6 billion in infrastructure and record investments into education and health, stimulating even more jobs and investment, and underpinning Tasmania’s future economic growth.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is getting on with the job of implementing our long term Plan to create even more jobs for Tasmanians.
