Dalby Regional Saleyards has boasted its biggest sale of 2025 last week, with one of its largest yardings this decade.
Agents yarded a total 9,190 head of cattle on Wednesday and are on target to eclipse the 2024/2025 financial year throughput of 240,706 head of cattle.
Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Business Strategy and Economic Development Councillor Megan James said the Dalby Regional Saleyards continues to stand as a driving force in Australia's agricultural sector.
"With around 46% of the nation's feedlot occupancy located within 200 kilometres of Dalby, the Western Downs has become the heart of Australia's beef production," Cr James said.
"These strong end-of-year sales figures reflect the region's pivotal role in driving the industry forward.
"The Dalby Regional Saleyards stands among the nation's premier cattle market facilities and attracts a significant number of local producers and buyers."
"Closing out the year with such strong sales figures is a true testament to the dedication and professionalism of the entire Dalby Regional Saleyards team."
Dalby Regional Saleyards has two more auctions left for 2025 before the Christmas shutdown and Councillor Megan James said last week's record sale figures could be topped on Wednesday 3 December.
"Local producers will be looking to capitalise on firm prices and the need to sell before the Christmas shutdown, which could result in another record-breaking yarding on Wednesday 3 December," she said.
