Recruit Firefighter Squad 46 due to begin soon

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service have finalised recruitment for 24 new recruits for the upcoming Recruit Firefighter Squads 46 and 47.

Recruitment for the next squads began late last year with letters of offers being sent out this month.

Last year, Recruit Firefighter Squad 45 graduated in August however, prior to Squad 45, the NTFRS hadn't had a recruit squad since December 2019, said Assistant Chief Fire Officer Joshua Fischer.

"A number of factors contributed to the large gap in recruitment, mainly COVID-19."

There were more than 180 applications received in the latest recruitment drive, with the majority of applications coming from within the Northern Territory.

"We're excited to have these 24 new individuals join us," said Mr Fischer.

"It's always enjoyable to see the excited faces of those who have put every ounce of effort into applying and successfully completing the recruitment process, which includes having a high level of fitness. We look forward to welcoming the new recruit firefighters as they commence their lifelong career and commitment to serving and protecting the Northern Territory."

Recruit Firefighter Squad 46 will commence in April and are scheduled to graduate in August this year with Recruit Firefighter Squad 47 schedule to commence in September and graduating early 2023.
