Red from Angry Birds in real life? 'Cranky' cardinal is a dead ringer for computer game creature

The northern cardinal even appears to be flashing its best frown as it flies straight at the camera

With its crimson feathers and grumpy expression, this northern cardinal bears more than a passing resemblance to Red from Angry Birds.

And, just like the cranky wingless wonder from the popular computer game, it looks like it's in no mood for messing about.

It's seen catapulting straight towards the camera in the brilliant shot.

And its hilarious sulking face was captured by photographer Brian E Kushner in his backyard, in Audubon, New Jersey, US.

Brian, 55, said: "This happened completely by surprise.

"I wasn't even sure that I'd captured the shot.

"As soon as I saw the picture I was reminded of Angry Birds.

"Everything about it reminds me of it.

"A lot of people have commented on it saying it looks like "Red" from the game."
