Redfern RES charge three, seize drugs, NSW

Police have charged three people and seized methylamphetamine (ICE) and heroin during search warrants in Sydney’s south and south-west yesterday, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Blams in May 2017 to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine and heroin by an alleged drug syndicate in Sydney’s south and south-west.

Investigations prior to yesterday had led to the seizure of almost half a kilogram of ICE and a small amount of heroin.

About 11.20am today, a 50-year-old man attended Campsie Police Station where he was arrested.

He was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug (not cannabis) and refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested a short time later in a vehicle nearby with police seizing cash and a small amount of heroin.

She was charged with possess prohibited drug and granted bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 12 September 2017.

About 12.30pm, police arrested a 45-year-old man outside a unit in Cronulla.

He was taken to Miranda Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, take part supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug and deal with property proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.

During the operation, officers executed two search warrants at a home on Platts Avenue, Belmore, and a unit in Cronulla.

Police located 280g of what’s believed to be ephedrine, as well as small amounts of ICE, cocaine and cannabis, and a quantity of cash.

All the items located were seized and will undergo further forensic examination.
