A man will face court this week on drug and firearm charges after a vehicle stop in Sydney’s east as part of Strike Force Northrop, NSW Police say.
Strike Force Northrop was established in September 2017 by detectives attached to Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) to target the ongoing supply of cocaine within the Central Metropolitan Region.
About 8pm on Friday 25 May 2018 officers attached to Redfern RES, were patrolling Cooper Street, Double Bay, and began to follow a Toyota Corolla, before stopping the car on New South Head Road.
Officers spoke to the driver, a 34-year-old man, before searching the man and the vehicle.
During the search, police seized a replica firearm, drugs believed to cocaine, methylamphetamine and MDMA, and cash.
The man was taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, two counts of supply prohibited drug greater than indictable quantity, possess prohibited drug and deal with proceeds of crime less than $100,000.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court Thursday 31 May 2018.
