Regional Training Fund Applications - Now Open

The Education, Training Committee (ETC), an initiative of the West Coast Council, is made up of Council, and volunteers from industry, and education and training who are committed to increasing education and training activities on the West Coast of Tasmania to improve the employment, training and economic sustainability of our regional community.

As an important, continuing part of the work being done, ETC and the West Coast Council supported by State Government, are offering an exciting project; The Regional Training Fund (RTF). Examples of what the RTF's initiative offers include:

  • funding to enable employers and jobseekers to access training that is not otherwise reasonably available from existing funding sources;
  • opportunities to gain skills to develop business plans and business cases (particularly to access grant funding or finance);
  • support to access Compulsory Professional Development (CPD) training opportunities in the region (for tradespeople to maintain their Practitioner and Contractor licences);
  • support to access free training for new workers and jobseekers into employment opportunities such as the seafood industry or hospitality and tourism training, renewable energy sector, emerging industries or small business activities.

The Regional Training Fund initiative is highly supportive of any training or workforce development activity that the ETC determines useful to assist local West Coast community gain local jobs through skills development or by building employer capability and capacity.

Co-contribution towards training costs between the Regional Training Fund and by Employers/Job Active or Disability Employment Services will be preferenced; and West Coast residents with a business idea or businesses with entrepreneurial focus are encouraged to apply.

The ETC and Council are inviting interested businesses/employers and jobseekers to make application for funding to undertake training and education offered through this Regional Training Fund (RTF) initiative.

A range of information sessions have also been planned to maximise the opportunity for participation and access to this funding program. In order to provide community and businesses with as much information as possible, the sessions have been tailored to the various education and training pathways available through the RTF.
