Families have less than a week remaining to transition to the Australian Government’s new Child Care Subsidy and have their payments backdated to July 2.
Eligible families who were receiving Child Care Benefit or Child Care Rebate under the previous child care system must complete their online assessment by 23 September 2018 to receive backdated Child Care Subsidy payments for care provided from 2 July 2018. The assessment is easy to complete, only takes a couple of minutes and can be completed through a Centrelink online account via myGov.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Morrison Government was providing record funding and greater support to families as part of its new Child Care Package, and in particular through its new Child Care Subsidy.
"More than a million families have successfully transitioned to the new Child Care Subsidy and have successfully completed their assessment," Mr Tehan said.
"The average working family is better off under the new package and we want to ensure families get every dollar they are entitled to.
"Our message to any family that is receiving child care that has not completed their assessment is to get online now and complete this before 23 September to ensure you get your payment backdated."
