Registered nurses – recruitment now open

The Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering on our commitment to recruit more graduate nurses to support our health system.

The Registered Nurse - Transition to Practice 2019 intake is now open for registered nurses with less than six months’ full-time experience. This is a key program as part of our $757 million plan for health, and we will be recruiting 30 additional graduate nurses every year over the next six years.

The positions are available in the Tasmanian Health Services in all three regions and are available in a wide range of practice settings, including metropolitan and rural hospitals, community and mental health settings.

Our commitment to building a better health system is clear, with a massive 76 per cent increase in new full-time equivalent graduates employed across the Tasmanian Health Service since 2014.

This has allowed areas like District Health Facilities on Flinders Island, George Town and Deloraine to support new graduates.

This investment builds on our track record from 2014 to 2018, where we employed nearly 375 more FTE nurses in our health system, and we will be recruiting hundreds more over the next five-and-a-half years as part of our strong plan to increase health services and make Tasmanians’ lives better.

Applications for graduate nurses close on 23 September 2018, and recruitment for Enrolled Nurses Transition to Practice positions will take place in the future.
