State and territory Real Estate Institutes and the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand have completed their auctioneering competitions with their two best auctioneers qualifying for the annual Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AAC) scheduled to be held at Federation Square in Melbourne later this month.

"The Australasian Auctioneering Championships is an annual event conducted jointly by the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) and the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) representing the most skilled auctioneers that Australia and New Zealand have to offer," REIA President Adrian Kelly said.

"The Auctioneering Championships were first held in 1991 between the Real Estate Institutes of Tasmania and Victoria to provide an opportunity to showcase their best auctioneers.

"The concept was subsequently adopted by all the State/Territory REIs and REINZ and has become the most prestigious event on the Australasian auctioneering calendar." The Real Estate Institute of Victoria and the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania will be co-hosting the event this year with the heats to commence on Wednesday 23 October 2019 and the finals being held on Thursday 24 October 2019.

"The Championships are open to the public and you will not be disappointed by the skill, professionalism and technical knowledge displayed by all the contestants," Mr Kelly said.

"Andrew North of New Zealand took home the title last year however Australia will provide some stiff competition this year.

"We are expecting another hard-fought battle between Australia and New Zealand to ascertain who will be crowned Australasia's best auctioneer," concluded Mr Kelly.
