The drive-through COVID testing site at Reid Park will close today (Wednesday 11 August) at 4pm.
The site opened yesterday in response to a sudden increase in demand for testing locally following a COVID case in Cairns.
Demand for COVID testing in Townsville has decreased significantly today. There is currently no or minimal wait times for testing at both Reid Park and 1300Smiles Stadium testing sites.
The testing clinic at 1300Smiles Stadium will continue to operate from 8am-6pm seven-days-a-week.
Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG), at the request of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS), supported the establishment of the Reid Park site, which was operated by Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology.
TLDMG will continue to support the work of THHS in protecting the Townsville community from COVID-19.
