The Eastern Freeway will be closed in both directions between Doncaster Road and Bulleen Road from 7 pm Saturday 6 December to 5 am Monday 8 December 2025.
As part of the North East Link, the Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway.
Alternative travel options
Delays of up to 90 minutes are expected. We encourage you to avoid the area if you can and plan ahead.
Detour routes are shown on the map at Victoria's Big Build website, including:
- Citybound: via Doncaster Road and Burke Road
- Ringwood-bound: via Thompsons Road, Manningham Road, Williamsons Road and Tram Road.
There will also be no parking or stopping along Doncaster Road in both directions between Greythorn and Burke roads and at the intersection of Doncaster and Burke roads due to the detour.
