Renewed Appeal To Locate Woman Missing From Dungay

Police have renewed an appeal for public assistance to locate a woman missing from the state's north.

Yvonne Whear, aged 73, was last seen driving along Queensland Road, Murwillumbah, on Thursday 19 February 2026.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District were notified on Saturday 21 February 2026 and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Police and family have serious concerns for her welfare as her disappearance is out of character.

Yvonne was initially thought to have last been seen at Dungay, on Wednesday 18 February 2026; however, following inquiries, police established that she was seen at the Shell Service Station on Tweed Valley Way at Murwillumbah about 3.15pm on Thursday 19 February 2026.

About 3.22pm that day, her vehicle - a gold-coloured Ford Escape wagon with NSW registration EWS28P - was seen heading north on Queensland Road towards Dungay. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Yvonne is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, around 154cm tall, of a medium to solid build, with long grey/brown hair and a large scar possibly on her right arm.

She is known to frequent the Murwillumbah and Dungay areas.
