Renewed warning as search for man who escaped Riverina prison, NSW

Police have renewed warnings not to approach a man who escaped from a correctional centre near Albury last week, NSW Police say.

Artur Wojik, 45, was last seen at the minimum-security correctional centre on Jingellic Road, Mannus, about 130km north of Albury, at 5.30pm Thursday (7 April 2016).

The prisoner was noticed missing at 7.30am the following day (8 April 2016), and a search was initiated.

Police from Albury Local Area Command have renewed their warnings for anyone who sees the man, NOT to approach him, instead to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Artur Wojik is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170-175cm tall, of a medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his right bicep and was last seen wearing prison greens.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a man matching this description to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that the escapee could be interstate, especially Victoria or Queensland.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
