Replica pistol located, man charged in Warilla

Police have charged a man after he was allegedly found to be in possession of a knife and a replica pistol in Warilla overnight, NSW Police say.

About 12.30am tomorrow, police were patrolling in the Warlilla area when they noticed a 34-year-old man riding his bike on Davidson Street.

Officers stopped the man for a minor offence and conducted a search where they allegedly located a pocket knife attached to the front of his jacket.

A further search of the man’s backpack allegedly revealed a replica pistol.

The man was arrested and was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol and having custody of a knife in a public place.

He was refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
