With heightened awareness about bushfires, residents who have not got their properties fire-ready are being encouraged to take action.
Mayor Kate Makin thanked all residents who have already prepared their properties and called on landowners to tackle any vegetation that was still overgrown.
"Summer is still here so keep vigilant," Cr Makin said.
"A number of residents have told Council they are concerned about long grass.
"After two rounds of fire inspections – one in October and one in December – Council issued just over 300 fire prevention notices across the Shire.
"Most landholders have complied, but for various reasons a minority have yet to clean up their land."
If compliance is not achieved, Council may issue a $2035 fine and complete the works on the landholders property at their cost.
For its part, Council is well into a second round of roadside and township slashing across the entire Shire.
"From this week, Council will undertake a second round of slashing on local roads and in townships to pick up any areas that have regrown since the first round of slashing or had been missed," Cr Makin said.
