Return to normal services at Council's Waste Transfer Stations

In order to minimise contact and potential virus transmission, Council trialled limits on services at Waste Transfer Stations to those who do not have domestic waste kerbside collection of the bank of bins access.

This has been in place for one week and was introduced again as it worked successfully when it was put in temporarily last year, during the lockdown.

Unfortunately, this has not worked again as planned and has now been revisited by Council's Executive Team.

Waste Transfer Station services will resume as normal in order to reduce the number of facilities people are visiting and to minimise discussion time with attendants which have markedly increased since the limitations were introduced.

If our teams are exposed to positive contacts or contract COVID-19 themselves, we may be so short-staffed that we have to temporarily close facilities and reduce services. This is what we are trying to avoid. Our focus is continuing the delivery of essential services to our community, right across the region.

Council would like to thank the community for their understanding and patience and ask that residents maintain COVID safety measures when visiting our waste facilities.
