The driver of a ride-sharing vehicle will appear in court on a negligent driving charge following the death of a passenger who was hit by a bus in the Sydney CBD earlier this year, NSW Police say.
Emergency services were called to Elizabeth Street, Sydney, about 3.15am on Saturday 17 June 2017, after a man was struck by a bus near the intersection of Bathurst Street.
It is alleged a 30-year-old man had alighted from the vehicle at a set of traffic lights, falling to the roadway and into the path of a bus when the car accelerated.
The man died at the scene.
The matter has been under investigation by officers from Sydney City Local Area Command.
They will allege the driver of the car had been working for about 21 hours without a substantial break at the time of the incident.
About 7pm Sunday (3 December 2017), police issued a court attendance notice to a 30-year-old man for the offence of negligent driving occasioning death.
He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 24 January 2018.
