River Street Duplication Road Construction Nearing Completion

River Street Duplication Road Construction Nearing Completion

Ballina Shire Council is pleased to advise the road construction component of the River Street Duplication is nearing completion.

The final asphalt overlay will be applied to outbound lane of the River Street Duplication on Friday 29 October 2021, with the line-making of outbound lanes scheduled for the week of 1 November 2021 (weather and site conditions dependent).

To undertake the asphalt works, Riverview Avenue will be temporarily closed at the intersection at River Street. Access to Riverview Avenue and Dan Murphy's will be via Kalinga Street on Friday 29 October 2021.

All River Street businesses remain open, however there may be small access delays to Trevan Ford, Northern Rivers Seafood, and The Station Shell Service Station.

The following traffic conditions are in place to the outbound lanes during the asphalt overlay:

  • Riverview Avenue will be temporarily closed at the River Street intersection.
  • Traffic will be directed to the inside lane of the outbound lanes
  • Speed limit is 40kmph in construction zones
  • Street parking is reduced and at times unavailable.
  • Kalinga Street access to businesses should be utilised where possible.
  • Traffic control or detours will be necessary at certain times. There may be delays, so plan to leave earlier than you normally would.
  • The right hand turn into Ronan Place is permanently closed.

Landscaping of the median and approaches has commenced and will continue into early 2022. Temporary lane/road closures and associated detours will be required when landscaping is underway.

Ballina Shire Council thanks the local businesses and wider community for their continued patience as we near completion of this important upgrade.
