Expressions of Interest are now being invited from local men to join a volunteer community working group that will drive the development of a long-term vision for a Riverina Men's Health Centre (RMHC) in Wagga Wagga.
Founder of the Murrumbidgee Men's Group and men's health advocate Rhys Cummins said the need is clear and it's time to act.
"There is a huge need for more support for men in our community," Mr Cummins said.
"Men face challenges that are unique to men and so we are looking to create a safe place for healing and wellness.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of something that will have a positive impact on boys and men for generations to come."
As recommended from the report in response to Councillor Richard Foley's Riverina Men's Health Centre Notice of Motion tabled at the Monday 12 May 2025 Ordinary Meeting of Council, Wagga Wagga City Council is supporting the expression of interest process.
The preliminary feedback identified the project needs to be led and delivered by local men, for local men.
The working group will play a central role in establishing the RMHC, including leading strategic planning, shaping the centre's model of practice, establishing governance structures, and guiding fundraising efforts with an initial commitment of two to three years.
Individuals with skills to support the above, or who have a strong connection to the community and a passion for improving men's health and wellbeing through a collaborative, sustainable, and locally-driven approach, are encouraged to apply.
