Riverwood Man Charged After Detectives Pose as Girl

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man for allegedly attempting to groom a child online.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

In June 2025, strike force detectives commenced investigations into the online activities of a 33-year-old man.

Assuming the online identity of a young girl, detectives spoke with the man who allegedly made a number of sexually explicit comments.

Arrangements were made for a meeting to take place in the Riverwood area.

Around 9.10am yesterday (Thursday 3 July 2025), strike force detectives arrested a 33-year-old man in Riverwood.

He was taken to St George Police Station, where he was charged with seven counts of use carriage service-send indecent material to <16 and use carriage service-groom <16 sex with another.

The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 4 July 2025).
