Road extension to unlock access to employment and community hubs

The City of Whittlesea has started work on the much-needed extension of Findon Road to Plenty Road.

The 650-metre extension will create a new east-west connection from Williamsons Road to Danaher Drive.

The $13.6 million project will include traffic lights, more lanes, slip lanes, walking and cycling paths and a new bridge across Findon Creek.

This investment by Council into the city's road network provide easier access to employment, community hubs and services.

The connection will ease congestion and improve travel times, allowing residents to spend less time on the road and more time with friends and family.

These works are part of Council's $790 million capital works program for 2020-21, which focuses on creating liveable neighbourhoods that provide residents with a connected road network.

Construction is expected to be complete by early to mid-2021.
