Emergency services are currently deploying to a road train trailer fire on the Victoria Highway, approximately 10 kilometres east of Timber Creek.
Around 4pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports that a road train carrying two trailers loaded with hay had caught alight while travelling along the highway towards Katherine.
The driver pulled over and contacted emergency services immediately.
The road train is currently blocking the highway. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and to slow down and drive safely if travelling through.
