Robberies, South Brisbane and Logan

Police are searching for a stolen distinctive Suburu WRX which is linked to several robberies committed by three men across South Brisbane and Logan suburbs this week.

Around 1.35am this morning the group was armed with a handgun when they unsuccessfully tried to enter a service station on Albert Street at Waterford.

They then attended a Staplyton Road service station at Heathwood where one of the men threatened a 20-year-old console operator with a firearm.

The men then stole a sum of cash before fleeing in the blue WRX (pictured).

Investigators believe the same group is also responsible for a series of offences yesterday morning including an attempted break and enter at a Sunnybank shopping centre. Around 3.30am, the men used a sledge hammer to try and smash their way into the complex but were unable to gain access.

It is believed they also snatched a woman’s handbag while she was walking in the carpark of a Loganholme shopping centre around 4.15am.

Then they travelled to Beenleigh where it is believed they broke into a second hand store on Alamein Street and stole jewellery and watches.

No one was physically injured during the incidents.

Detectives have linked the offences through the use of a blue 2015 Suburu WRX sedan with a large spoiler which was stolen from an Eight Mile Plains residence last weekend.

If anyone sees the men or the vehicle they are urged not to approach them but to contact police immediately.

Investigations into the offences are ongoing.
