Robbery and Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle in Ayr, QLD

Police are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred in Ayr late on Tuesday evening which involved a stolen vehicle, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations indicate that around 11:45pm at Queen Street a person exited a stolen vehicle and approached a 17-year-old woman and demanded her bag.

The woman refused to hand over the bag and ran. The person then chased the woman, struck her across the knee with a black metal object, grabbed the bag and fled in the stolen vehicle.

It will be alleged the person travelled from Ayr to Townsville in the stolen vehicle and was stopped after police used a tyre deflation device.

Four people were taken into custody.

The 17-year-old woman received treatment for minor injuries at the Ayr hospital.

Police are continuing their investigations.
