Robbery charges, Southside Brisbane

Detectives from the Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch have arrested and charged a 16-year-old girl in relation to three violent robberies that occurred on Brisbane’s southside last week, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged the girl was involved in the attempted robbery of a woman as she sat in her car in the carpark of a shopping centre on Mains Road at Sunnybank on the evening of March 19.

Two girls allegedly approached the woman with one dragging her from the car while demanding her keys. The two then allegedly began assaulting her, however, the woman has then fought back causing the two to flee the area.

In the early hours of Tuesday, March 20, it is alleged the girl was involved in a robbery at a residence on Tamar Street, Annerley where a woman was threatened at knife point while items were stolen from her property, including her car.

The girl is also alleged to have been involved in the armed robbery of a woman in Mount Gravatt on Saturday, March 24.

It will be alleged that around 11pm, the woman was walking home along Newnham Road when she was approached by a car. A female exited the vehicle and allegedly made demands for the woman’s bag. The female is then alleged to have struck the woman with a baseball bat before getting back in the car and leaving the scene.

The 16-year-old was arrested and charged on Sunday morning after being located in an alleged stolen car in Marsden.

She was charged with one count each of robbery whilst armed with actual violence, attempted robbery with violence, robbery whilst armed, assault occasioning bodily harm in company, common assault, enter dwelling with intent, enter premises with intent, deprivation of liberty and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
