Robbery, Unlawful Use and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle in , QLD

A 31-year-old man has been charged following an alleged carjacking at Underwood this morning.

It will be alleged that around 6am, a man was driving a stolen silver 2010 Ford Focus hatchback when he stopped at the intersection of Logan and Kingston roads before reversing and deliberately ramming a grey 2018 Honda HR-V station wagon approximately four times.

It is further alleged the man got out of the stolen Ford, walked back to the damaged Honda and forcefully removed the 55-year-old male driver, before stealing his car.

The 55-year-old driver was not injured during the robbery.

It is further alleged the man drove the stolen Honda dangerously at high speed, before crashing into a power pole at the intersection of Jacaranda Avenue and Civic Parade in Logan Central, a short time later.

The man then allegedly tried to flee the scene before officers from the nearby police station apprehended him.

The Ford Focus was originally stolen from an address at Dunstan Street, Moorooka, during an alleged burglary on January 1. Upon searching the stolen vehicle, officers allegedly located drugs in the centre console.

Further investigations indicate the stolen Ford Focus was involved in a petrol drive-off at a Kippa Ring service station on January 19.

A 31-year-old Kingston man has now been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of unlawful entry of a vehicle, robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and fraud.

He is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court (tomorrow) January 24.
