Robbery with violence in Surfers Paradise, QLD

Police are investigating a violent robbery that occurred this afternoon in Surfers Paradise, Queensland Police say.

Initial information suggests about 5.15pm, a 17-year-old woman was walking north along the Gold Coast Highway when she was assaulted from behind by three female offenders who had rode past on bicycles.

The victim was knocked to the ground after being punched to the head numerous times.

The three offenders fled the scene in a northerly direction with the victim’s phone and wallet.

The woman was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are appealing to any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or have information that may assist with identifying the three offenders.

Investigations are continuing.
