Robbery with violence in Townsville, QLD

Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred yesterday evening in Townsville, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations indicate about 10.30pm on Landsborough Street, North Ward, the female victim and three friends were walking when they were approached from behind by a man and a woman.

The woman assaulted the 17-year-old victim by pulling her to the ground and punching her in the face while the man stole the victim’s purse.

The man and woman fled the scene on foot towards Cook Street with the purse.

The woman is described as being Aboriginal in appearance, dark coloured hoody and light coloured shorts.  The man is described as being Aboriginal in appearance, slim build, short dark hair and wearing a dark coloured hoody.

The victim was transported to Townsville Hospital for treatment of injuries to her face.

Investigations are continuing.
