The Hodgman Liberal Government is working hard to build on our previous efforts to address housing stress in Tasmania.
Today we start the first of our roundtable discussions as part of our consultation for Stage Two of the Government’s Affordable Housing Action Plan, which will shape the future for our housing plan over next few years.
The roundtables are being held in Launceston, Hobart and Devonport with our key stakeholders and, in conjunction with written submissions, will inform the next part of Stage Two going forward.
Around 100 stakeholders will take part in discussions from all around the State, including the community sector, local government, and the building and construction industry.
Stage Two builds on the work of Stage One, which is on track to assist over 1600 Tasmanian households in need by June 2019, including supply of 941 new affordable lots and homes.
Stage Two will provide an additional 1500 new affordable homes for Tasmanians, and assist around 2000 households.
We are investing an additional $125 million into Stage Two, taking our total investment for affordable housing to almost $200 million over eight years. This is one way we are working to make the lives of Tasmanians better.
