Latest Report Packaging Data (RPD) registration and submission windows open, with enhanced digital portal functionality and guidance released in advance of key deadlines.
To support obligated producers with their data submission and compliance, a number of significant updates and new functionality to the EPR for packaging digital service are now live and available for use via the Report Packaging Data (RPD) portal.
What this means for producers
These updates provide producers with improved tools to meet regulatory requirements, prepare for upcoming data submissions, and gain clearer understanding and oversight of their obligations under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024.
The enhanced RPD digital portal offers producers a centralised and streamlined platform to manage all aspects of their pEPR compliance.
All obligated producers (including online marketplaces and compliance schemes acting on their behalf) are required to create an account on RPD, register their organisation and submit packaging data using the service. This includes organisations defined as both small and large under the pEPR regulations. Guidance on the classification of small and large organisations is available on GOV.UK .
Reporting timelines and key dates
The data reporting timelines for small and large producers vary. Large producers must submit their packaging data for the first half of 2025 (1 January to 30 June) by 1 October 2025. Small producers do not have a requirement to register and submit data by 1 October, but must submit their packaging data for full year of 2025 (1 January to 31 December) by 1 April 2026.
New RPD portal releases
The latest updates introduce several key features designed to improve usability and compliance management:
H1 2025 data submission window open. Large producers obligated under the pEPR scheme are required to submit their packaging data for the first half of 2025 (1 January to 30 June). The data for this reporting period must be submitted by 1 October 2025.
2026 registration capability. Registration for the 2026 compliance year is now open to producers and any compliance schemes acting on their behalf to enable early preparation for future reporting obligations.
Updated subsidiaries module. Organisations with complex corporate structures can now manage reporting across multiple entities more effectively using the improved subsidiaries module.
- Recyclability assessment data submission. Producers can now submit recyclability assessment data directly through the portal, streamlining the assessment and reporting process and supporting the requirements outlined in the Regulatory Position Statement issued by the environment regulators.
- New joiner/leaver codes. These codes (01-17) have replaced the A-Q system in the registration file, making mid-year registration changes easier to report.
- Public registers. These can be accessed to search for registered producers and compliance schemes.
