Strike Force Raptor charge man with fraud of almost $1 million, NSW

A man will face court today after being charged over an alleged mortgage fraud valued at almost $1 million, NSW Police say.

In November 2015, the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor commenced an investigation into the activities of the Burwood Chapter of the Rebels OMCG and their associates.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, investigators identified suspected fraud offences by members of the group and conducted further investigations.

Following extensive inquiries, police attached to Strike Force Raptor arrested a 26-year-old man at South Wentworthville, about 5.40am today.

Officers seized mobile phones in his possession before he was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, and participate in a criminal group.

Police will allege the man, who is a Rebels OMCG member, used fraudulent documents to obtain a loan of $920,000 to purchase a property in August 2016.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

Investigations are ongoing.

Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
