A South Australian man has been charged over alleged online threats toward police officers.
The AFP's National Security Investigations (NSI) team began an investigation in September after South Australia Police referred a series of social media posts for investigation.
It's alleged the posts advocated violence against police and made threats towards a number of senior officers.
The AFP executed a search warrant with the assistance of South Australia Police at a home in the Mid North region on Thursday (1 October, 2026).
A man, 34, was arrested and charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, contrary to section 474.17 of the Criminal Code (Cth).
The maximum penalty for this offence is five years' imprisonment.
The man appeared in court yesterday (2 October, 2026), where he was formally refused bail.
He is scheduled to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on 5 November, 2026.
AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett announced the establishment of NSI teams in October, 2025, to target groups and individuals causing high levels of harm to Australia's social cohesion.
