Road users will benefit from more than $22 million in funding to improve safety at high-risk locations across regional New South Wales under the 2026-27 Black Spot Program.
The funding is part of a $45.1 million investment to upgrade 82 high-risk sites across New South Wales through the Black Spot Program.
The Black Spot Program supports targeted road safety improvements, including safer intersections, safety barriers, road widening, upgraded line marking and pedestrian infrastructure.
Projects funded in regional New South Wales include:
- Nearly $3 million to upgrade the intersection of Yamba Road and Palmers Channel Northbank Road at Palmers Channel.
- $3 million for new safety treatments on George Downes Drive at Kulnura, including guardrails, improved road surfaces, line marking and signage.
- More than $1.3 million for road widening and safety improvements on Rodeo Drive between Bowraville and Macksville.
- More than $1.1 million for road safety upgrades on Yass Valley Way at Yass, including shoulder widening, safety barriers and protected turning lanes.
The government increased Black Spot Program funding to $150 million each year as part of the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030.
Community members, local councils and organisations can nominate a black spot through the program.
