Plans to make Werril Street safer for people living in, travelling through and accessing the area are being proposed through the Werril Street Traffic Management Project.
The proposed improvements have been developed to better reflect Werril Street's role as a residential road, with targeted traffic management measures designed to maintain safer vehicle speeds and discourage heavy vehicle use.
Leah Johnston, Director of Infrastructure, said the project responds to the significant changes that have occurred around Werril Street.
"Werril Street has changed considerably as the surrounding area has developed. What was once a rural road is now part of a residential community, with more people walking, cycling and accessing their homes along the street.
"The current speed limit and level of heavy vehicle traffic are not well aligned with this residential setting. These proposed changes are about creating a safer environment for everyone who uses Werril Street," Ms Johnston said.
The proposed works include a range of traffic calming measures, intersection treatments, pedestrian improvements and lower speed limits. Together, these measures are designed to slow vehicle speeds, discourage heavy vehicle access and improve safety and comfort for people living on and travelling along Werril Street.

Werril Street Traffic Management Project
The Werril Street Traffic Management Project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve local road safety and create streets that better reflect the needs of growing residential communities.
The project is funded by the Victorian Government through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program, which is providing $214 million to make local roads safer across Victoria. The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), developed the program to support councils to plan, design and deliver road safety improvements on local roads.
